KAM-500 Fast Ethernet Backplane Controller Released
7th November 2011
The KAD/BCU/140 is an iNET-X compliant 100BaseTX Ethernet backplane bus controller, programmer and packet generator. It is an upgrade of the BCU/105 that supports aperiodic packet transmission i.e. packets are not generated if no data has been acquired from bus monitor modules connected to the asynchronous bus. This results in more efficient use of the network bandwidth and lower recorder capacity requirements. It supports iNET-X and faster chassis programing times via Ethernet using the Trivial File Transport Protocol (TFTP).
The KAD/BCU/140, and the KAD/BCU/105, turn any KAM-500 chassis into a synchronized network node adding all the benefits of Ethernet to a KAM-500 system (ACRA CONTROL recommends the KAD/BCU/140 for new programs). System wide synchronization is achieved using an IEEE 1588 Precision Time Protocol v1 (PTP) Grandmaster time source or by seeding time from an IRIG-B or GPS time source via an ACRA CONTROL time code generator module (such as the KAD/TCG/102).
